Progress:
At its March 17 meeting, the Board of Trustees of HTCC approved the conceptual design of the Worship Area proposed by the Design Committee. It is above diagram for your information. Please keep in mind that the Architect we will hire will make changes to make it look better, within the budget constraint that we will propose. But the deities and their locations will be as shown. Within the five temples shown, there will be room to put appropriate ancillary items such as vahans etc. The Design Committee is now working on the conceptual design of other areas of the Building.
Temple priests, Acharya Upadhyay Ji and Pundit Raghavendra Ji, have selected an auspicious date for the Bhoomi Poojaa – Saturday, June 23, 2007 morning. We are going to start preparations for that and you will hear more about it in coming weeks.
As you know, we plan to install a Landmark Plaque on the land that day to mark the occasion and as a recognition plaque to stay in public view for decades to come. We are considering a granite slab laser etched with the names and amounts of contribution of those donors who have contributed more than $1000, which helped us purchase the land without a loan.
Even more important, since the Bhoomi Poojaa is scheduled for June 23, you still have opportunity to make contribution and make your mark! As you will note there are only 140 names on the list and their contributions total $424,759. Our goal, as I indicated in the Board of trusties meetings, is to have 200 names on the marker and their contributions to total $500,000 or more, the cash price we paid. So please make contribution now and help us achieve this goal!
Based on suggestion of one of you, we have set up a stock brokerage account at Wells Fargo and New Temple Fund can now accept donations of stocks. Those of you who work for organizations that match charitable contributions should approach them. Some of you have informed me that they have designated Hindu temple as a beneficiary in their life insurance policies. So many ways to help the Temple now and in future!
